Privacy Policy

Earnlock keeps your habits on your phone. This page explains, in plain language, what information is involved when you use the app and website, what isn't, and the controls you have over it.

01

The short version

Earnlock is built to keep your habits on your phone. Your camera feed, journal entries, steps, and activity history live in your device's local storage — not on our servers.

  • Camera workouts are processed on-device with Apple's Vision framework. No video is recorded or uploaded.
  • Step data comes from Apple Health and stays on your device.
  • Journal entries and your earned “Energy” balance are stored locally.
  • No ads, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics SDKs in the app.
  • This marketing website uses only privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (see §8).
02

Who we are

Earnlock”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the team operating the Earnlock iPhone application. If you have questions about this policy or your information, contact us at support@earn-lock.com.

03

Information processed on your device

We try to handle as little personal information as possible. Most of what Earnlock does happens entirely on your device, and we never receive it:

  • Camera / workout verification— camera-based workouts use Apple's on-device Vision framework to count reps and detect holds. The camera feed is processed in real time on your device only. We do not record, store, transmit, or access any images or video.
  • Health / step data — with your permission, the app reads your step count from Apple Health to award passive rewards. This data stays on your device.
  • Journal entries and habit data— journal entries, activity history, and your earned “Energy” balance are stored locally on your device.
  • Blocked-app selections— app blocking uses Apple's Family Controls, which provides only opaque tokens. Earnlock never sees the real names or identities of the apps you choose to block.
04

What we don't collect

To be explicit, the Earnlock app does not collect or have access to:

  • Your contacts (we do not request the Contacts permission).
  • Your location (we do not request location permissions).
  • Your photo library beyond anything you explicitly attach.
  • Your audio or video recordings — only on-device processing is used.
  • Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking signals.
05

Information handled by Apple and our subscription provider

Purchases and free trials are processed by the Apple App Store. We use a subscription-management provider to verify your subscription status. We may receive non-identifying subscription information (such as whether an active subscription exists) but we do not receive your payment card details or Apple ID. If you opt in to share crash logs via Apple's standard prompt, anonymous crash data is sent to Apple, not to us.

06

How we use information

The limited information involved is used solely to:

  • Verify a completed habit and award unlock time, on your device.
  • Provide local notifications for habits and reminders you set.
  • Verify your subscription status with Apple.
  • Diagnose and fix bugs you have explicitly opted to report.

We do not sell your personal information.

07

Third-party services

Earnlock relies on Apple services:

  • Apple Screen Time / Family Controls — powers app blocking using opaque tokens.
  • Apple Vision framework — runs entirely on-device for workout verification; no imagery is transmitted.
  • Apple HealthKit — provides your step count locally, with your permission.
  • Apple App Store and a subscription-management provider — handle purchases and entitlement checks.

We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or social tracking pixels in the app.

08

The website

This marketing website uses Vercel's privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Web Analytics and Speed Insights) to measure aggregate page views and page performance. It does not set advertising cookies, does not track you across other sites, and has no contact or email-capture forms. Standard hosting logs (for example, from our hosting provider) may be processed for security and reliability.

09

Your controls

You always have direct control over your data. From inside the app you can:

  • Revoke camera, Health, or notification permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
  • Delete an individual journal entry, activity, or habit.
  • Delete all local Earnlock data to permanently erase it from your device.
10

Data retention

Because your Earnlock data lives on your device, it persists as long as you keep the app installed. Uninstalling Earnlock removes the local database from your iPhone. Subscription-status information is retained only as long as needed to provide the Service and meet legal requirements.

11

Children

Earnlock is intended for users aged 17 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information via Earnlock, please contact us so we can address it.

12

International users

Because the substantive data stays on your iPhone, most processing happens on your device. Our website's cookieless analytics may be processed on infrastructure outside your country. By using the Service you consent to this limited cross-border processing.

13

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, PDPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal information about you (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR, the California CCPA/CPRA, or Thailand's PDPA). Because Earnlock stores your data locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly inside the app — deleting your entries or removing the app. For any other request, email support@earn-lock.com and we will respond within 30 days.

14

Security

Your Earnlock database is stored inside the app's iOS sandbox and protected by iOS file-level encryption when your device is locked. Any network requests are sent over HTTPS. No security model is perfect, so please use a passcode on your iPhone and keep your device up to date.

15

Changes to this policy

If we materially change how Earnlock handles information, we will post an updated policy at this URL and update the “Last updated” date above. For substantial changes, we'll surface a notice inside the app before the change takes effect.
